Howlin’ Wines

DogTrekker and staff (including our Chief Operating Dog, Kayla) attended a fun-filled day on Treasure Island Saturday, August 2nd for the 2nd Annual Harvest Howl. Held at the very dog-passionate Treasure Island Winery, there was wine tasting for uprights 21 years and older, K9 obedience and demonstrations, local food vendors and plenty of doggie-treats to go around.

Mutt Strutt 2011

DogTrekker was on hand last Saturday as 400 humans strutted their mutts at Coyote Point Park in San Mateo during the Peninsula Humane Society's 17th Annual Mutt Strutt. The fundraiser, which funds the Hope Program, raised over $53,000 after expenses for the animals of PHS.

Next Stop for DogTrekker

DogTrekker invites readers, friends and dogs to visit us at the Bay Area Pet Fair & Adoptathon from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 10-11  at the Marin Center Fairgrounds in San Rafael. This popular event features more than 200 exhibitors offering pet products, entertainment, pet foods, education and services.

Bay Area Pet Fair 1st Day Success

According to the Bay Area Pet Fair & Adoptathon organizers from Pet Food Express, the first day of the two-day event was a tremendous success. More than 190 pets were adopted from approximately 50 animal welfare, rescue, humane and SPCA organizations. The DogTrekker staff, comprised of Research Lab Kayla, mastiff/lab rescue Layah and 8-month old mastiff 'Tiny' -- and of course their uprights, were on hand for the festivities and a somber, yet inspirational, tribute to the dogs and their handlers who responded to the events at the twin towers on 9/11/01. Fair organizers said that 9/11 was the largest deployment of search dogs in the United States history. At the fair was Jessie, a 14-year old retired search dog, who worked hurricanes Gustav, Katrina and Ike, in addition to 9/11.
