Yosemite Park is Open

The Yosemite/Mariposa County Tourism Bureau welcomes visitors to experience the beauty of Yosemite National Park and Mariposa County. Most Park visitor areas were not affected by the Rim Fire, and we are thankful that both the Park and Mariposa County remained safe.

Bay Area Pet Fair – Day 1 – A Great Success!

DogTrekker.com was on hand today for the first day of the annual Bay Area Pet Fair and Adoptathon in Marin County. The driving force behind the two-day event, Pet Food Express, literally rolled out the red carpet and tents for thousands of attendees to meet, and in many cases, take home hundreds of adoptable cuties. With the sun shining and the temperature perfect, DogTrekker.com was excited to welcome readers at our outdoor booth across from the Pet Food Express booths. Right behind us, Rocket Dog Rescue was busy adopting out 22 dogs that were on the euthanasia list at Glenn and Tehama County shelters and rescued earlier this week. DogTrekker.com's Lark and Roger Coryell stepped up to the plate and rescued a beautiful part lab, part 'Heinz 57' pup from Rocket Dog Rescue and are now introducing her to Rowdy, an Australian Shepherd mix, who has been top-dog at the Coryell household.

Bay Area Pet Fair & Adoptathon 2013

The Bay Area Pet Fair and Adoptathon 2013, held last weekend at the Marin Center, was a fabulous success. DogTrekker.com was on hand both days and witnessed 40 dogs being given a new life with new families at the Rocket Dog Rescue center next to our booth. “We are on track to reach our goal of 600 adoptions,” said Mike Murray, Director of Community Outreach for Pet Food Express. While a final count is not yet available, Murray said that 253 animals found homes on Saturday. In addition to the adoptions taking place throughout the venue, there were Splash Dog events, stunt dog shows, Bay Area K-9’s demonstrating crime-busting skills, My Mutt pet shows and over a 100 local vendors featuring the latest in pet supplies.
