Aussie Rescue SoCal

Meet Koda Bear! This cute 6-year-old mini Aussie is doing much better since his neglectful owner surrendered him to Aussie Rescue SoCal. They're a small group of volunteers who network throughout Southern California, from Kern to San Diego Counties, trying to help Aussie and Aussie mixes in need. Along the way, says Aussie Rescue's Karyl Heathman, they'll take in the occasional other herding breeds as resources permit.

Koda was in bad shape when he arrived, with suspected allergies causing problems from hair loss and irritated skin to massive ear infections. And that's not to mention the dental issues. So off to the veterinarian he went, where his ears were treated, he received allergy testing, and also had a full dental cleaning and seven bad teeth extracted.

Now that he's feeling a bit more himself, Koda's enjoying life a lot more and looking forward to finding someone to share it with. Like many herding-breed dogs, he's reserved when you first meet, but very affectionate and loving once he knows you. Give him time to warm up, and he's your guy. Koda has excellent manners; he's house- and crate trained, rides well in the car, and walks well on a leash. He'll do best in a quiet home without small children, ideally as the only pet. If you'd like to meet him, contact Aussie Rescue SoCal to set up a meeting!
