Bay Area animal shelters open doors to the animals evacuated ahead of Hurricane Irma. Below are some ways to support the efforts of these rescue groups.

Animal evacuees arrived at Berkeley Humane on 9/7; volunteer and animal caregivers worked tirelessly to get them settled. Adoptable animals will be posted online on the afternoon of September 14, 2017 and will be available for adoption beginning Friday, 9/15 at 11 a.m. Donate here to support Berkeley Humane's response to Hurricane Irma.
As Hurricane Irma approached Florida, Tony La Russa's Animal Rescue Foundation, (ARF) partnered with Humane Society of Broward County to ensure the safety and care of hundreds of animal evacuees. ARF, along with partners from the East Bay SPCA and Berkeley Humane received a cross-country flight filled with animals evacuated from Humane Society of Broward County.
Those looking to help in this situation may do so by adopting or fostering an animal or contributing to assist with transport, care and placement costs. ARF is also accepting gifts of much needed items, such as large dog carriers, blankets and towels at ARF’s Walnut Creek facility. The dogs and cats were evacuated on a Wings of Rescue flight funded by ARF and freekibble and GreaterGood.org.

Within hours of Hurricane Harvey striking Texas, Wings of Rescue dispatched planes into the disaster zone and it has been non-stop flights ever since continuing straight through Hurricane Irma.
Within the first two weeks, Wings of Rescue has flown 17 missions and saved over 1,500 dogs and cats and the number is rising daily. They will be continuing daily Harvey and Irma relief flights for as long as they are needed. Donate here to support their efforts.
