Haven Humane Society

Haven Humane Society has served Northern California's Redding area since 1952, caring for homeless, unwanted and neglected pets. Its main goal has been to find them forever homes through public adoptions and animal rescue groups. Haven's spay and neuter clinic also offers low-cost to no-cost spaying and neutering for dogs and cats, addressing pet overpopulation in the area.

Among the programs that enhance shelter dogs' chance for adoption is a children's program called Camp Love-A-Pet that teaches children ages 10-15 the responsibilities of pet ownership as they give 32 shelter dogs basic obedience training under the watchful eyes of Haven's professional dog trainers during the summer months. Dutchess, a 1-year-old female Pug-Shepherd mix, went through the Camp Love-A-Pet program in June, 2011. She is a sweet dog who will make a great family pet, rated for an athletic home with children 5 years and older. For more information about Dutchess, go to www.havenhumane.net.
