USA Today recently cited a new DogTrekker survey that uncovered many of the frustrations we as DogTrekkers have experienced all too often. Eight out of 10 of those leisure travelers surveyed found hotel policies and amenities important when selecting accomodations, almost half are not pleased with the poor selection of truly pet-friendly hotels and a third are confused over pet policies. These results send a huge message to the travel industry, as our influence as dog-travelers continues to increase.
Just as important as these findings from those who travel with their pups are the reasons why dog owners are reluctant to hit the road with their four-legged friends. Four out of 10 found finding accomodations was difficult, a third said their dog's safety was a concern as well as finding things to do with Fido once they arrived at a destination was difficult.
