Last Saturday a parade of pooches took over Coyote Point Park in San Mateo for the 18th annual Mutt Strutt and DogTrekker was on hand to take it all in. The sun was shining and the weather gorgeous as close to 500 uprights and more then 300 dogs strutted their stuff to help raise money for the Peninsula Humane Society’s Hope Program. “The highlight, for us, is seeing so many dogs who were adopted from our shelter come back and take part in this event,” said PHS/SPCA President Ken White. “In addition to these old friends, we made new ones as well, and all of them helped us raise much-needed funds for our animals.”
The Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA’s Hope Program helps the neediest animals and gives them a second chance at life. As an open-door shelter, PHS/SPCA accepts all animals regardless of their age, size, temperament and behavior. Some animals arrive perfectly healthy and need nothing more than a new loving home, but many others need extra medical care, behavior training, or TLC before they can be placed into a new forever home. For some of them, PHS/SPCA is their only chance. Hope saves an average of 170-175 animals every month. Thanks to generous support, this number keeps growing!
