Martin Resorts – Giving Back

Martin Resorts Owners with check for Woods Humane Society

We're delighted to report that DogTrekker.com’s premier San Luis Obispo lodging partner, Martin Resorts, has gone even further in being dog-passionate with a donation of $4,000 to Woods Humane Society.

At its four San Luis Obispo County properties—the Paso Robles Inn, The Inn at the Cove, the Best Western Plus Shore Cliff Lodge, and the Pismo Lighthouse Suites, the destination for one of DogTrekker's recent DogCations—Martin Resorts has been rolling out the red carpet for human-canine families visiting the area.

Knowing that not every animal is as fortunate as those who vacation at their properties, Martin Resorts looked for a way to give back. Noting that Woods Humane Society had been saving and serving the region's homeless critters for over 55 years, they decided to donate $10 of each $20-25 pet fee to help out. As a result, Martin Resorts was able in April 2013 to present Woods Humane Society with $4,000 from its 2012 pet fees, and plans to make the donation an annual tradition.

The donation will help Woods Humane purchase supplies such as food, new toys, and comfortable dog beds, and also cover costs for microchipping and spay/neutering of adoptable animals.

"We take a comfortable bed at the end of the day for granted, whether we are at home or away," said Meghan Martin, Martin Resorts' Community Dog Relations Ambassador. "By supporting the Woods Humane Society with an annual donation from our dog room fees, we feel we are completing the circle, so that homeless animals can find their permanent, comfortable bed."

Kudos to Woods Humane for their great work, and to Martin Resorts for supporting it! We hope this becomes a trend among dog-welcoming establishments.
