Time Out (With Oysters & Santa) by the Sea

It’s oyster season! And it’s hard to imagine a more ideal place to enjoy a delectable dozen than at Nick’s Cove Restaurant and Oyster Bar, a cherished dog-friendly restaurant and lodging property on Tomales Bay in Marin County.

In accordance with Covid-19 guidelines, Nick’s has expanded its outdoor space to include several new options for socially distance dining; there’s also a 2-acre farm to explore with your four-legged buddy (indoor dining is off limits for now).

The menu at Nicks is locally sourced, and for overnight guests, cottages are deep cleaned daily while check-in and checkout are touchless, consistent with CDC guidelines.

Dog-friendly day trips from the Cove include Limantour Beach at nearby Point Reyes National Seashore and Dillon Beach, 15 minutes north up the coast. Stop into the town of Point Reyes Station to pick up picnic supplies (including melt-in-your-mouth Point Reyes Blue cheese) at Cowgirl Creamery — and don’t forget to pack some picnic treats for your dog, too!
