Four of Concord's hotels will welcome you back with your pups once the time is right. All have been certified under the California Hotel & Lodging Association's "Clean & Safe" guidance program for the hotel industry. For guests, the focus on pandemic safety measures includes prominent signage, sneeze guard or mask requirements, lots of provided hand sanitizer, physical distancing where possible.
In addition, Concord's pooch-friendly lodgings provide
updated dining practices and assurance that items like elevators and bell carts are sanitized between uses. A reminder: not all amenities and services are available during the current Phase 2 of reopening, so be sure to ask!
Here's a list of these hotels:
Hilton Concord: Hilton's Clean Stay with Lysol Protection program launched in June, with the disinfectant company, in conjunction with the Mayo Clinic, monitoring elevated hygiene practices from check-in to checkout. Developed to meet consumer expectations during the Covid-19 pandemic, it involves frequent cleaning with hospital-grade products, touchless room entry and other protocols. The hotel's 329 rooms include some that are allergy-free, but all the others, except those in the executive category, are dog-friendly, welcoming furry friends up to 75 pounds. Pet policies include a $50-per-stay charge and a $250 refundable deposit.
Premier Inns Concord: This 136-room, motel-style property offers direct room-to-outdoor access, a real convenience for DogTrekking guests. Dogs up to 40 pounds are welcome for a refundable deposit of $25 for one dog or $50 for two. Here, as at other dog-friendly hotels, pets are not to be left unattended in guest rooms.
Studio 6 Concord: This 42-room, upscale version of Motel 6 charges just $10 per day to a maximum of $75 per stay (there's also a refundable, $50 deposit) for canine guests. Rooms include full kitchens for those on extended stays, and the property sits within walking distance of restaurants and other retail outlets.
Crown Plaza Concord-Walnut Creek: This 324-room hotel welcomes pets under 35 pounds in designated rooms for a $100 non-refundable deposit. Dedicated outdoor relief areas are provided, and four-legged guests are not allowed in pool, dining or fitness areas.
There's also a regular Motel 6 in Concord. Like others in the chain, it doesn't charge extra for pets.
