Concord prides itself on being a proactively ADA-accessible city offering many ways for visitors with disabilities to experience and enjoy the region. All Concord hotels offer ADA-accessible rooms, while many parks and open-space preserves feature wheelchair-accessible trails. A standout, on a clear day, is the quarter-mile long Mary Bowerman Trail at the summit of 3,849-foot Mount Diablo. It offers accessible parking at the trailhead and leads to a lookout point with awesome panoramic views.
The East Bay Regional Parks District, meanwhile, is rich in accessible trails, starting with dozens and dozens of short loop trails suitable for wheelchairs, strollers or anyone moving slowly. For details on other types of accessible trails, check out the park district's trail accessibility report here.
Another great resource is TrailLink's Concord Wheelchair Accessible Trails and Maps site, which details scores of trails where wheelchair users and their dogs can glide into nature. These trails are also great for those with senior dogs and others that prefer flat-accessible hiking.
