Every year, the Berkeley-East Bay Humane Society (BEBHS) holds a fundraising event for dogs and their uprights called Bay to Barkers. This year’s 14th Annual Bay to Barkers was held on July 31st, and added over $20,000 in donations to continue to assist in rebuilding the BEBHS offices and shelter that were destroyed by a devastating fire in the spring of 2010.
DogTrekker attended the event that was held at the north parking lot of Golden Gate Fields in Albany. The day featured a Dog Walk, Lead Dog contest, Doggy Olympiad games, spa time for canines and people, craft activities for kids and dogs and a Pet Festival with booths hosted by community rescue groups and pet supply companies.
Since 1927, the Berkeley-East Bay Humane Society has been dedicated to placing homeless animals with committed caretakers and has saved well over 40,000 animals. The BEBHS works hard to be a resource for all of the municipal agencies within the Alameda and Contra Costa County service areas.
