Contra Costa Humane has new digs!

Contra Costa Humane Society had the opportunity to relocate this year to an all-in-one facility! The new address is 171 Mayhew Way, Suite 101 in Pleasant Hill. CCHS animals currently come almost exclusively from Contra Costa Animal Services when they are available for rescue or on the euthanasia list. CCHS takes as many adoptable dogs and cats that they can and keeps them at their no-kill shelter while they wait to go to their new, forever home.

Contra Costa Humane also offers many programs and classes for animal people, including Caring for Your Canine Companion and Emergency Preparedness, just to name a few. You can see the entire list of programs here.

CCHS works tirelessly to get to know an animal so that a perfect match can be made. It is important to find a match that suites both the person’s lifestyle and the personality of the animal.

CCHS hosts the only free roaming shelter where the animals live in a "living room" type situation. This enables a person to come in and see each animal’s true, unique personality. The new office and shelter spaces are now set up together, giving the visitors more direct interaction with the animals and help everyone get to know each other in a relaxed, comfortable environment.

SpunkyIn addition to saving animal's lives, CCHS has an AniMeals food supplemental program providing pet food to low income participants in the Contra Costa and Solano Food Bank; SNAP spay/neuter assistance programs for low and extremely low income residents in order to cut down animal populations, and CCHS remains active in legislation and education of animal issues. CCHS is still looking for a permanent place to own but for now this location will mean more animals find their forever homes. Visit them and see the new beautiful space.

Also, join CCHS March 7th, 2014 for Pins For Paws Bowling at Danville Bowl. All the proceeds from this great event benefit their animals and education programs. See you there!
