Dog Day On The Bay

Ahoy! Put a sailor hat on your four legged friend and head out to the 8th annual Dog Day On The Bay this Sunday, July 22 nd. Join DogTrekker on Hornblower's ship, The San Francisco Belle, to support the San Francisco SPCA Puppy Dog Tales Reading Program. Spend the day cruising around San Francisco Bay with your pup and friends while enjoying a champagne brunch, raffle and live entertainment on board. Registration starts at 10 am, boat departs at 11 am and returns to the dock at 1 pm.

Register online ($125 adults, $112.50 seniors, $75 children over 4 years old ) with one leashed dog per person.

Cruising dogs are treated to a bow-wow buffet, canine water stations and even a sod covered poop deck for those important bathroom breaks, and of course sweeping views of San Francisco from the bay.  Funds raised by Dog Day On The Bay will benefit the San Francisco SPCA's Puppy Dog Tales Reading Program. Puppy Dog Tales Reading Program (PDT) helps to promote literacy in at-risk populations of children. PDT works closely with school and library staff to help promote a love of reading in children through having them read to therapy dogs. Reading out loud to an adult can be a scary prospect, but reading out loud to a dog helps children uncover a self confidence they might not have had before. Beginning as a pilot program at the Chinatown Branch of the San Francisco Public Library in June of 2007 the program has now added multiple locations and continues to grow.

Can't make it on the bay this Sunday, you can still support Puppy Dog Tales Reading Program and the SF SPCA by donating.
