DogTrekker was on hand last Saturday as 400 humans strutted their mutts at Coyote Point Park in San Mateo during the Peninsula Humane Society's 17th Annual Mutt Strutt. The fundraiser, which funds the PHS's Hope Program, raised over $53,000 after expenses for the animals of PHS. Ken White, PHS President, remarked after the event, "we hosted another great walk and were happy to see so many past adopters and community members turn out to strutt their stuff and raise signfigant funds for shelter dogs."
The Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA’s Hope Program helps the neediest animals and gives them a second chance at life. As an open-door shelter, PHS/SPCA accepts all animals regardless of their age, size, temperament and behavior. Some animals arrive perfectly healthy and need nothing more than a new loving home, but many others need extra medical care, behavior training, or TLC before they can be placed into a new forever home. For some of them, PHS/SPCA is their only chance. Hope saves an average of 170-175 animals every month. Thanks to generous support, this number keeps growing!
