Dogtrekker was on hand Saturday and Sunday at the annual Bay Area Pet Fair and Adoptathon in Marin County. The driving force behind the two-day event, Pet Food Express, is reporting that 394 animals were adopted at the fair, and that number is expected to increase throughout the week. We can testify that emotions were high each time the bell rang signaling an adoption from one of the approximately 50 animal welfare, rescue, humane and SPCA organizations in attendance.
In addition to adoptions, dogs with their uprights in tow could try their jumping skills at the Splash Dog tank or strut their stuff in the My Mutt Contest. There were daily demonstrations from the Natural Balance Stunt Dogs as well as Flyball, which packed the tent with spectators. As if that wasn’t enough, there were also over 100 vendor booths to peruse and music provided by KFOG.
With the sun shining and the temperature perfect DogTrekker was excited to man our outdoor booth that was across from the Pet Food Express booth and next to our friends from Visit Mendocino. We were able to take a little time and stroll around, saying hi to our awesome vets from Marin Pet Hospital who provide us with some of our helpful and informative Vet Buzz stories and alerts, as well as making new friends.
All in all the event was a tremendous success and we are excited to have been a part of it. Make sure to check back later this week for the final count of adopted animals; we’ll post it as soon as it’s in! Check out our Facebook page for more snaps from the weekend.
