Here's Joey! This handsome German shepherd guy is 3 years old and bursting with happy, playful personality. You'd have trouble finding a more people-loving dog than Joey, and he's great with other dogs too. He's affectionate and loving, and looking for active fun (Fetch! Hiking! Running!). He's also looking for a nice cozy place to curl up beside you when it's time to settle down and be quiet.
Joey's currently residing in a foster home with Contra Costa Humane Society. All their adoptable dogs are fostered in a home environment, which is great for their health and well-being, and allows their true self to emerge free of shelter stress. More fosters are always welcome to help out in this life-saving work, and there are lots of other volunteer opportunities.
Also helping the residents of Contra Costa County, human and otherwise, the organization also offers supportive programs such as AniMeals, supplying pet food to those in need, and SNAP, the Spay-Neuter Assistance Program, which offers financial aid to people who can't afford to have their pets spayed or neutered.
Supported entirely by donations (including a grant from Maddie's Fund), CC Humane is hosting an epic fundraising gala, the Prom for Paws, on Thursday, May 14, in Walnut Creek. It's an evening of drinks, dancing, food, and fun, and if Duke and Sadie are into these gatherings, they're welcome in the outdoor areas. Tickets on sale here.
