Want to contribute to rescue efforts for Houston's dogs, cats, horses and other companion animals affected by Hurricane Harvey? Here are some good options – real organizations doing hands-on work to save animals in Texas:
Houston SPCA is the lead nonprofit agency for animal-related disaster rescue, relief, and resources in the region.
SPCA of Texas is putting every available resource behind assisting pets and people who have evacuated the Gulf Coast to the North Texas area.
Austin Pets Alive!, an animal shelter and no-kill pet advocacy group seeking assistance to help with pets, has created a page on its website specific to Hurricane Harvey-related needs.
Wings of Rescue is transporting pets displaced by Harvey's flooding to safety.
Wags, Hope & Healing is on the ground in Texas, aiding in Hurricane Harvey animal relief efforts, and will continue to offer aid to the community in the months of recovery ahead.
Marin Humane is in communication with rescue organizations on the ground and is on standby, waiting to send staff and supplies as soon as they're called upon. In the meantime, Marin Humane has made it easy to donate funds that will go directly to the Houston SPCA. Donate via this link and Marin Humane will send 100% of the donations they collect to their friends at Houston SPCA who are battling to save as many animals as they can in the wake of this disaster.
This recovery will take months – even years – so every dollar will help. Please make your donation by September 10 so Marin Humane can forward the funds when they are most needed.
Berkeley Humane is also helping animal evacuees from Hurricane Irma. Donate now to support their effort.
