Lake Tahoe Summer Camp For You and Your Pup

If you love Lake Tahoe, want to spend a fun time with your pack learning new tricks, all while supporting canine cancer treatment, we’ve got the perfect summer adventure. Wild Blue Dog's third annual summer camp is now accepting reservations for an activity-packed week in the company of other dog-lovers and their pets.

Wild Blue Dog Camp at South Lake Tahoe is just what it sounds like: summer camp for you and your dog(s). Held just one week a year (Sept. 2-8 in 2019) on a 33-acre, sandy-beach property between Edgewood Golf Course and Zephyr Cove on the Nevada side of the lake (the facility serves in summer as a 4H camp), Wild Blue offers a full agenda of training in everything from agility and lure-coursing to nose work and doga (yoga with your dog on the beach). Featured trainer will be Sharon Nelson, internationally renowned for her training seminars on building a strong owner/dog relationship.

There’s swimming for both of you right off the beach or a pier, plus guided hikes, kayaking, paddle-boarding, and training and testing, for those interested, in Canine Good Citizen and therapy-dog certification. But there’s no need to stay constantly on the go: you’ll also want to make time to relax on a big green lawn in the shade of fragrant pines.

Wild Blue Dog Camp is the only nonprofit dog camp west of the Mississippi, with donations going to support research into canine cancer prevention and treatment, adding a do-good vibe. Campers can attend under an all-inclusive plan with lodging at South Shore’s Beach Retreat and Lodge, about 10 minutes from the grounds, or as a day-use camper with lodging on one’s own.
